Bellevue personnel

The hiring of additional pool personnel and another meter attendant were approved by Bellevue Council at its June 22 meeting.

Council originally hired two people to work as cashiers at the Memorial Park swimming pool, although the hirings were contingent upon the parks and recreation committee finding enough money in the budget to pay for the positions.

A third cashier apparently was hired without council approval. Mayor George Doscher said that he was contacted after one person did not show up for work, and he authorized the hiring of a third person who had submitted an application for the job. Officials said later that the absent worker was not told when to report to work.

Council president Kathy Coder said that a request for four cashiers has been made, although the four will split the 60 hours per week schedule originally intended to be filled by two people.

Parks committee chair Lisa Blaney-Stewart said that funds from the code enforcement budget will be used to pay the cashiers' salaries.

The additional hirings were approved in a 7-2 vote with Jane Braunlich and Linda Woshner opposed.

Council voted unanimously to advertise and hire a second parking meter attendant. Two meter attendants were included in the 2010 budget.
