A tentative calendar for the 2010-11 school year was approved Monday by the Avonworth School Board.
If it receives final approval, the calendar will schedule the following:
The first day for students will be on Aug. 25. The schools will close for Labor Day on Sept. 6.
Schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on Sept. 15 for teacher-inservice.
Students will not have classes on Oct. 11, Columbus Day, which will serve as an Act 80 day for staff.
Another Act 80 day for staff is scheduled for Nov. 24, which cancels classes for students.
Thanksgiving vacation will be Nov. 25 and 26. School will be back in session on Nov. 29.
A two-hour delay schedule will be in place on Dec. 15 for teacher-inservice.
Winter vacation is set for Dec. 24 through Jan. 2. Classes will restart on Jan. 3.
Students will not have class on Jan. 17, which is Martin Luther King Jr., Day. Staff will have an Act 80 day.
On Feb. 16, schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule because of teacher-inservice.
Schools will be closed for students on March 14 because of an Act 80 day.
Parent/teacher conferences will be held on March 25, closing schools for students.
Schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on April 13 for teacher-inservice.
Spring vacation is scheduled for April 18-25. Should the schools close because of any emergencies, the make-up days are set in this order: April 25, April 18, 19, 20, and 21. Classes will resume on April 26.
Schools will close for Memorial Day, which is May 30.
The last day for students and graduation will be June 3. The last day for teachers is set for June 6.
