Coaches for Avonworth's fall sports were hired at the school board’s regular meeting on May 11.
Jason Kekseo will return as varsity head football coach. Justin Grady, Duke Johncour, Ed Malsch, Mark Knochel and Joe Zeglowitsch were approved as varsity assistant football coaches. John Aguiar will be the seventh/eighth grade head football coach and Phil Coffin the seventh/eighth grade assistant football coach.
Tom Angell was named the boys' varsity head soccer coach, and Camden Leeds the assistant coach. James Mahan was hired as the girls' varsity head soccer coach with Jim Pappas as his assistant. Kelly Compeau will be the head coach for the seventh/eighth grade boys' team assisted by Chad Perry. Bill White and Nicole Berner will work as head and assistant coach, respectfully for the seventh/eighth grade girls' soccer team
Jason Smith will be the varsity head cross country coach with Katy Ursta as the assistant coach.
Doug Vandervort was approved as the varsity head volleyball coach, Kelly Walbush as seventh/eighth grade girls' head basketball coach, and Ashley Mohr as the middle school assistant cheerleading coach.
The board also formally hired Phil Coffin as varsity boys’ head baseball coach, and approved the hiring of Karly Mozdzen as varsity girls' volleyball assistant coach for the 2009-10 school year.
The board accepted the resignations of varsity head cheerleading coach Kelly Monteverde and varsity assistant cheerleading coach Breanna Maisner.
Board members Frank Mucha, Peter McKay, Jeff Schmid and Marybeth Sommers were absent.
