A 10-foot brake, weighing several hundred pounds, was reported stolen during the burglary of a McKinley Avenue residence on Aug. 23. The owner said the equipment was valued at $2,000, and had been stolen between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Avalon Police were called on Aug.20 when someone witnessed a person in a silver vehicle pull up to a Jackman Avenue home, get out, and steal a copper downspout from the side of the house.

A woman picked up Aug.23 on an outstanding arrest warrant from the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Family Division was taken to jail after police discovered drug paraphernalia. Tara McKee, 32, of South Ohio Street, was arrested in the parking lot of the Avalon Motel. Police say she was in possession of a hypodermic needle.

Carol Tait, 46, of Cleveland Avenue, was cited for public drunkenness after police say they observed her staggering across Ohio River Boulevard on Aug. 23.
